Ar. Liu graduated from the School of Architecture, National University of Singapore (with honours) in 1994 . He joined Nikken Sekkei as a Design Principal between 2001-2003. Nikken Sekkei partnership and transitioned from Nikken Sekkei to set up WOW architects, toward the end of 2002, as one of the founding partners, He also acted as the Design Director of the associated interior design firm Warner Wong Pte. Ltd., which focuses on high end hospitality interior design projects. In 2007, he left the partnership to help set up Dlab (now renamed A D Lab Pte Ltd) a research-based architectural practice, centred on creating a new or emergent architectural practice model which addresses specific rapid social, economic, environmental and technological transformations taking place in last few decades.
Mr. Liu has won awards such as the Singapore Institute of Architects Design Awards (2010 and 2014), conferred the AUDE’s 20 Under 45 (year 2010), and the German Design Award (year 2020). His works have also been featured in the prestigious AEDES gallery, Berlin, Germany in 2010 (organised by AUDE) and the ArchMarathon 2014, in Milan. In 2014, ADLab Pte Ltd, was presented the Asia Excellence Award 2014.
Ar. Liu served as an appointed Member of the Singapore Board of Architects from 2016-2018. He also taught in N.U.S School of Architecture as a part-time design tutor between 1997-2009 and is currently teaching the Master’s of Architecture Design Research Options Programme. In 2019, Ar Liu. Also Co-Founded the Advanced Design and Build Tech Company, INplex, to developed a Cloud Based Generative Design Platform called the Monomer Building System. The digital platform is integrated with Advanced Digital manufacturing and assembly systems to produce Highly Sustainable and Lightweight Custom Build Pre Fab Buildings. Ar Liu continues to apply his Practice based research from ADlab to evolve its Multi-dimensional generative design and manufacturing digital platform to an Artificial Intelligence for Customizing Modular Pre Fab Architecture.
